John Michael Devencenzi, 69, of San Francisco, California, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, in Newberg, Oregon, after a long journey with heart failure. He was born on February 18, 1956, to Angelo Anthony and Lenore “Lee” Charlotte Devencenzi (Ramirez).
John was known for his humor, warmth, and ability to connect. He spent most of his career in insurance and telecom sales and later as a driver. He built countless friendships through his high school years at Riordan in San Francisco and Cardinal Newman in Santa Rosa, college at the University of San Francisco, church, and work. He was cherished for always bringing a smile to the room. It was said he could enter a room of strangers and come out with friends.
He loved great conversations, sports (especially football, golf, and basketball), and could answer nearly any sports trivia. He was infamous for retelling favorite stories and jokes and his greatest joy was his family. In his final days he spoke of how deeply he loved them.
John is survived by his children Ryan (Morgan), Loren (Susan), and Megan (Oldadapo); their mother, Patricia; five grandchildren; brothers David (Char) and Michael; and many dear relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday October 17, 2025 at 3pm at Timberline Baptist Church, 24645 SW Old Hwy 99W, Sherwood, OR with a reception to follow at Chehalem Glenn Golf Course, 4501 E Fernwood Rd, Newberg, OR 97132. In lieu of flowers, please donate to John’s GoFundMe.
